(No.566.)
A Petition of James Lees, of Oldham,in the County Palatine of Lancaster, was presented, and read; setting forth, That the Petitioner is brother of the late John Lees, who was at the Meeting atManchesteron the 16thofAugust,1819, that thePetitioner’s brother died of the wounds inflicted upon him on that fatal day, and that an inquest was held upon his body, but in consequence of the informality of the proceedings occasioned by the negligence of the Coroner, the inquiry terminated by the Court of King’s Bench declaring the proceedings illegal; that the Petitioner has no knowledge of anyone having been prosecuted or brought to account for the transactions of that day; the Petitioner therefore prays, That the House will cause such inquiry to be made into the transactions of that awful day as shall to the wisdom of the House appear best to secure the ends of justice and the due administration of equal Law.
