Richard Townend – James Murray ‘Ginger Bread Jack’, Descendant

James Murray, one of the special constable who witnessed the ‘drillings’ at White Moss prior to the massacre, was one of my great grandfathers.  For his efforts, as he was spotted and beaten up by the people drilling and then a witness against Hunt in the proceeding trial, was awarded this trophy….probably controversially as we understand things today!!
