William Simmons of Manchester in the county of Lancaster Surgeon upon his oath saith that he attended Mr John Hulme, a private in the Manchester & Salford Yeomanry Cavalry, who received several wounds on the 16th of August at the Field near St Peters of so serious a nature that his life was for some time in the greatest Danger. That independant of the wounds on the head and face, which were sufficiently severe to have occasioned Death, Examinant discovered a wound on the lower point of his back, evidently made with a sharp instrument, which wound alone would in all probability have proved fatal from its direction had it not been for the thickness of his dress interposing as the Instrument had passed through his belt, the waistband of his pantaloons, besides his waistcoat & Jacket.
