A Petition of William Bromeley, of Manchester, in the County of Lancaster, was presented, and read; setting forth, That the Petitioner was at the Meeting held in Manchester on the 16th of August 1819; he saw no tumult, nor any disposition on the part of the Meeting to commit any disturbance; the Petitioner saw the Yeomanry Cavalry ride most furiously amongst the people, cutting and maiming everyone in their reach; he was thrown down by the pressure of the crowd, and trampled upon; on recovering his legs, he was attacked by the cavalry, one of whom cut him across the nose and eye, and afterwards stabbed the Petitioner in the body; and the Petitioner was disabled for three months by the wounds he received; and praying, That the House will be pleased to institute an inquiry into the transactions which took place at the aforesaid Meeting.
