A Petition of Thomas Redford, Hatter, of Middleton, in the County Palatine of Lancaster, was presented, and read; setting forth, That the Petitioner, while attending a peaceable Meeting held at Manchester on the 16th day of August 1819, did receive a severe wound, having his right shoulder-blade cut through, in consequence of which the Petitioner was disabled from following his occupation for the space of six weeks; the Petitioner, therefore, humbly prays, That the House will cause strict inquiry to be made into the ever-memorable transactions of that day, in order that the instigators and perpetrators of that bloody deed may be brought to condign punishment; the Petitioner further begs leave to be permitted to prove at the Bar of the House the above allegations.
