Download account‘Examinant is a member of the Manchester Yeomanry Cavalry & was on duty in St Peter’s Square on the 16th inst. When the Cavalry advanced to the hustings & surrounded them. This Examinant saw Saxton getting down from the hustings & immediately [collared?] him. Saxton said I surrender do not hurt me to which this Examinant replied I won’t hurt you but I’ll hold you & seeing Mr Rutter a constable near gave Saxton in charge to him. This was all the conversation that passed with Saxton & no other operation of the Yeomanry was near at the time nor did any other member of the corps speak to this Examinant or to Saxton in his presence.
