(No. 586)

A Petition of Elizabeth Neal, of Manchester, was presented, and read; setting forth, that the Petitioner attended the Meeting held in Manchester, on the 16th of August 1819; she saw no disturbance, nor any disposition on the part of the people assembled to commit any breach of the Peace; the Petitioner saw with terror and alarm the Yeomanry Cavalry ride amongst the Meeting, cutting at and riding down every person they came near; the Petitioner was rode down by one of the Yeomanry, and several of their horses trampled on various parts of her body; the Petitioner had all the ribs on the right side broken, and was carried, in a state of insensibility, to the Infirmary; and was disabled for five months; the Petitioner humbly prays, that the House will be pleased to institute an inquiry into the transactions which took place at the aforesaid Meeting.
