The people marched nine or ten a-breast, and some part of them went in regular step. I shut my shop before ten o'clock, and kept it shut all day, I was afraid there would be a disturbance, and I was very much alarmed. I looked out of the upstairs window.
Cross-examined by Mr. Hunt – I was not afraid of the cavalry at all. I did not hear a report that the cavalry would attack the people. (In answer to the Judge). Between 4,000 and 5,000 persons passed my house.
