Park research has led to the heritage group discovering that 100 years ago in August 1919, Peterloo was remembered in the Park with speakers at Speaker’s Corner. The heritage group want to remember Peterloo by remembering those who gathered at Speaker’s Corner in 1919. The event will take place at 2pm near Chorlton Lodge, on Claremont Rd. There will be songs of protest from “Open Voice Choir” and short readings of poetry.
In 2020 Alexandra Park will be 150 years old. To mark the occasion the Friends of Alexandra Park, in partnership with the Heritage, Sports and Wildlife Forums as well as the Caribbean and African Health Network who organise the Windrush Health Walk and Festival, are planning activity days in 2019 and 2020
