Jennifer Luff State surveillance of the 20th century left
From the early 1920s through the late 1940s, the British government operated a very large programme to identify, blacklist and dismiss suspected Communists working in government munitions factories, shipyards and scientific establishments. This talk tells the history of Britain’s secret red purge and reflects on its implications for contemporary politics.
