Hear songs of protest, democracy and freedom from Manchester Community Choir, performing in the gallery of the Peterloo exhibition Get together and get things done.
They will sing songs that reflect and embody the key values of Protest, Democracy and Freedom. Sing John Ball tells the story of loollard priest John Ball who played a major part in the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381. Nana was a suffragette was previously sung at the unveiling of the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst. Freedom is coming, We need each other now, You’re the voice all tell of struggles to stand up for what you believe in and to fight for the rights of ordinary people.
The musical director, Liz Powers, will then teach the audience one or two songs.
