Dunham Massey is hosting Local Lives: Small Change, Big Difference as part of the National Trust’s People’s Landscapes year-long programme. Taken by Manchester based photographer Jan Chlebik, the exhibition focuses on the local people who are doing their bit to help nature every day. From Dunham Massey rangers to those local to the Trafford area, see their portraits, hear their stories and tell your own, as they ask what nature means to you and what you would do to protect it.

Local Lives: Small Change, Big Difference follows on from Faces of Change: Nature’s Champions in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery as the second of three projects marking the National Trust’s People’s Landscapes programme. The third project is an art commission by artist family Grace Surman, Gary Winters, and their two children Hope, aged 11 and Merrick, aged 9. Under the artistic direction of Jeremey Deller, the family will create and present two films commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre. The films will be shown simultaneously at Dunham Massey and Quarry Bank, before being shown in Manchester city centre. The art commission inspired by questions about protest, rights and responsibilities, freedoms and the power to create change.
