Join us at The Monastery on Sunday 16th June for a local history day to remember, with talks and stories focusing on the rich history and heritage of Manchester.

Talks on the day include ‘Peterloo’ from Dr Robert Poole, the University of Central Lancashire. Dr Robert Poole is currently working on the history of the Peterloo Massacre of 1819, a major episode in the history of Manchester and of British democracy. He is completing a book, Peterloo: the English Uprising, due to be published by OUP in 2019.

Other talks on the day to include, ‘Lydia Becker: A Manchester Suffragist’ from Joanne Williams, ‘Absolom and Edward Watkin: Manchester’s Forgotten Reformers’ from Geoffrey Scargill and ‘The Manchester Martyrs’ from Joe O’Neill.
